Artistic Heritage of the Order of Christ between Zêzere and Tejo (XV and XVI centuries)

To study, communicate and promote the patrimony associated with the commendations of the Order of Christ, as well as the heritage valorization through the History of Art, contributing to the preservation of the memory of this historical-artistic heritage, an identity mark of local / regional history, capable of contributing for territorial cohesion. On the other hand, the project will seek to promote the safeguarding of the patrimony of the Order and the communication of assets to society in an intelligible and open way.

Thus, the communication of heritage cannot be hermetic, but rather accessible and easy to understand, where society can review its cultural heritage and promote its continuity over time in the face of globalization. In this context, the historical-artistic study of the Order of Christ allows us to reflect retrospectively on the local and regional history in order to build a future based on memory and cultural heritage, but above all to review an identity mark and as it becomes visible, in the so-called modern societies, the identity factor is a central issue.
